The first solo exhibition in Greece, of the leading American sculptor Carole A. Feuerman, is proudly presented by the Kapopoulos Fine Arts gallery in Kolonaki (Skoufa 5, Athens), which exclusively represents her in our country.
The international artist herself will come to Greece to attend the opening of her solo exhibition, which took place on May 30, 2024, in a creative dialogue with the work of the renown, late, Greek artist Pavlos (Pavlos Dionysopoulos), also included in the exhibition.
Carole A. Feuerman, an advocate of surrealism, which she has served since the 1970s, will present a wonderful series of her unique sculptural creations, her lifelike female swimmers and dancers, as well as other anthropocentric sculptures, which will have the opportunity to be admired by the art-loving, Greek public. The bodies of her swimmers, like real ones, with their brightly colored swimsuits and accessories, seem to have the drops of water still wet on them.
Feuerman’s style is unique and thus established around the world. Her sculptures have been placed and exhibited in public spaces, Museums, Palaces and important galleries in Europe, America, but also in Asia. Recently she was in Venice, where her characteristic sculptures are also hosted, as part of the city’s 60th Biennale. Her previous exhibition was held in Monaco in March-April.
“In the early 1970s, I felt a deep and irresistible attraction to the art of sculpture,” notes Carole A. Feuerman herself. “With my art I want to create moments of escape and pause, to make my viewers escape from their daily, strict schedule. To offer them a break from the bustling city, so that they can escape from their everyday life and immerse themselves in a surreal world of art.”
Carole A. Feuerman has also been honored with numerous awards, including the “Goddess Artemis” Lifetime Achievement Award from the European American Woman’s Council (EAWC). She has also received the Special Honor Award at Changzhou CHN, Best in Show in Beijing CHN, Amelia Peabody Award, First Prize at the Olympic Fine Art Exhibition in Beijing and the Medici Award in Florence. She has taught, lectured and held workshops at the Guggenheim Museum and the Metropolitan Museum.
She has published four color monographs and three autobiographies in English and Italian. Her works are in the permanent collections of thirty-four major museums around the world.
In 2011, she founded the Carole A. Feuerman Sculpture Foundation, which aims to promote the arts, empower deserving, talented, young artists, and give them a platform to present their work, provide scholarships and educational opportunities.
